Long-Term Outcomes of Incredible Years Parenting Program: predictors of adolescent adjustment

Results suggest that a clinically significant reduction in the mother-child coercion is important in preventing adolescent delinquency and criminal justice system involvement.

Generalization of positive effects of the IY program from the clinic setting to the home and over follow-up periods of 1 to 3 years have been demonstrated. At 3-year follow-up, approximately two-thirds of the children were shown to maintain clinically significant improvements.

Long-term outcome studies are important not only to establish the long-term efficacy of treatment, but also to identify the early factors associated with positive or negative long-term outcomes.
