Hello from The Incredible Years
Dear
Incredible Years group leaders:
We hope all is going well with your Incredible Years Parent,
Teacher or Child groups. This e-newsletter is to update you
on a few changes and new materials!
-- Carolyn Webster-Stratton
Please visit our recently revised Supplemental Materials pages
– organized on the main menu by each program. We think you’ll
love it! There are many more pictures of the material items
we sell along with useful tips and how-to ideas for your groups
and classes.
For those of you delivering this program, be sure to see the
new 6-day teacher training protocol on the web site.

Notice some of the new materials we have made available to teachers
who participate in this training. (See photos of the recommended
items at left.)
For workshop #1
We recommend providing the teacher with either a "show me five"
poster or 7 laminated rules cards or the "show me five" garden
glove, plus the teaching pyramid handout (laminated) and the
"I’m good at Listening" sticker.
For workshop #2
For preschool and Head Start teachers we recommend the laminated
feelings cards and the pocket charts. For primary grade teachers
we recommend the "I can compliment" stickers.
For workshop #3
We recommend the Wheel of Fortune reward spinning wheel poster
or a new sticker.
For workshop #4 and #5
We recommend the "calm down" thermometer poster and/or "I can
control my anger" sticker.
For workshop #6
We recommend the big Wally books for circle time discussions
of problem solving and positive solutions.
Also notice the teacher self-reflection checklists that teachers
complete after each workshop, as they are trying out the strategies
in their classrooms.
Notice the new Baby Brain Development poster we are using in
the baby program that helps them understand how they are strengthening
particular neuron connections.
For the parent program be sure to see the 18-20 session protocols
for the updated preschool program. Also notice the teaching
tool kit –these are fun to use with parents (and teachers) to
review all the tools they are learning to use.
The first one is an update on all the research done with these
programs.

Enhance your chances for certification/accreditation – schedule
telephone consultations and/or agency group video consultations
At any time you can call or email our office and schedule a
telephone consultation with an accredited mentor or trainer.
These 1-hour consultations can be immensely helpful at avoiding
traps or blind trails. Also you can attend a consultation day
in Seattle or schedule one at your agency if you have more than
8 group leaders.
Please see our new "Tips for a Successful DVD Review" for submitting
videos to us for review on this page of the web site. (Follow
this link, look on the right hand side of the page.)

It usually takes a certified mentor 4-5 hours to review a 2-hour
tape and to write up a report. Actually we believe this is a
very inexpensive way to get supervision as the fee includes
two complete reviews for each leader. Additional review is charged
an hourly rate, and usually takes three hours.
NOTE: When you send your materials for certification, please
make sure to package them well, and indicate a return address
on the outside. We recently received a large envelope that had
burst out at one side, and all the contents were gone. Unfortunately
there was no return address information on the outside, so we
only know it came from the UK. Please feel free to communicate
with us when you've sent your pack and we can let you know of
its safe arrival.
New
New Documents to Promote Fidelity and Sustainability
We have developed a pyramid and a document called Training
and Dissemination Model: Eight Strategies for Delivering IY
Programs With Fidelity and Assuring Long Term Sustainability.
This gives leaders and administrators clear guidance for how
to promote quality delivery with fidelity right from the start.
We have also developed two infrastructure diagrams, to help
promote sustainability as well, for the teacher program and
the parent program. All these documents can be found here:
