Maria-Joao Seabra Santos Professor of Psychology and Education Sciences (right), and Maria-Filomena Gaspar Professor of Psychology (second from right), with their doctoral students, Tatiana Mota Fernandes Carvalho Homem and Andreia Fernandes Azevedo, visited us in Seattle to study and attend parenting workshop and groups. They are beginning several randomized research trials in Portugal with children with conduct problems and ADHA.

Researchers and mentors from Portugal, UK and Norway visit Seattle and Vashon Island to consult on their countries' work with the Incredible Years parent and child programs.

Workshop at the Werry Centre, Auckland, New Zealand 2/09

 

The Werry Centre is arranging for the training and support of Incredible Years parent group leaders in the Preschool BASIC and School Age BASIC parent programs. They are supporting and promoting the accreditation of group leaders by providing ongoing consultation days. Carolyn Webster-Stratton visited them in February 2009 to talk to program managers as well as to provide consultation, updated training in the new school age program (ages 9-12), and training for peer coaches.

Peer Coaching Training in New Zealand - "The 7's" in 2 /09

 

Carolyn Webster-Stratton lead a peer coaching training with Diane Lees, New Zealand's accredited mentor. Seven carefully selected accredited group leaders received training in procedures to provide peer coaching to new group leaders. These peer coaches will provide peer coaching to new group leaders to support their learning and delivery of the Incredible Years parent programmes with high fidelity. They will submit videos of their coaching to Carolyn and Dianne for review and evaluation, and will meet again in 3 months for further review.

Judy mentors Rhiain Gwyn, an experienced teacher and head mistress, to become a mentor so she can deliver the Incredible Years Classroom Management Program and Classroom Dinosaur Curriculum to teachers in Wales. Judy Hutchings and her husband in Wales host many Incredible Years visitors and mentors at their wonderful bed and breakfast by the sea called Tal Y Foel. They also hosted a mentor consultation day which was fantastic.
