The home coach self-administered manuals for preschool basic include a coach manual (not shown) covering protocols for 10 topic areas, as well as 4 separate parent manuals that help parents track goals for each session, brainstorming decisions, values exercises, reading and practices with their children. This home-visitor coaching model is a good option if parents cannot attend a parent group due to schedule conflicts, or if there is an extended delay before the next parent group will be offered. It is important to note that IY home visitor coaches should receive authorized training in the BASIC Incredible Years concepts, methods and principles before using this program in the home. During home visits, IY coaches help parents practice targeted parenting strategies directly with their children. Coaches also reinforce parents' learning by playing video vignettes not covered in the group sessions. If the home coach visitor plans to deliver the complete program in the home, they should expect the program to require12-18 home visits. |
